Community Services Board

Purpose:                                  The purpose of the Board shall be to review and evaluate community mental hygiene services and facilities, recommend policies and procedures to the Mental Hygiene Department and other Mental Health agencies and perform such other acts appropriate to improving the effectiveness of Mental Hygiene services in the County.

Membership

Number of Members:              The membership of the Board shall be composed of not more than 15 members appointed by the County Executive and approved by the Legislature.

Terms:                                     Four years, staggered.  No one may serve for more than two terms consecutively

Legislators:                              None

Representation:                       One member shall be a licensed physician and one member shall be a certified psychologist.  Other members shall include representatives from community agencies for the mentally ill, the mentally retarded and developmentally disabled and those suffering from alcoholism and substance abuse.
