Youth Board

Purpose:                      The Board shall recommend effective policies and programs for the prevention and control of delinquency, crimes by youths, and to further youth development; act as advisory group to the Executive with respect to the solution of youth problems; encourage closer cooperation between employers, labor, service clubs, and other public and private agencies so as to stimulate employment for youth and encourage sound youth programs on the basis of community planning; assist the Executive with the review of grants and establishing criteria for allocation for these funds; assist in planning for youth.

Oversight:                   Provided locally by the County Executive and the County Legislature and at the state level by the Office of Children and Family Services

Number of Members:  15-20 members (appointed by County Executive)

Terms:                         3 years, staggered

Representation:           50% from public officials associated with youth, 50% must be lay representatives, must contain 2 youths
