CARTS - Chautauqua Area Rural Transit System

CASA (Community Alternative Systems Agency)
Call 753-4447 to get information on how to access help for older persons who need assistance with personal care, housekeeping or nursing home placement. RN Case Managers do assessments, coordinate services and payment options. To get more information visit CASA on the web.

Developmental Disabilities Program
Ongoing case management services, referrals, and follow-up contacts to older adults who have physical, mental, or emotional disabilities. Senior Citizens who have adult children with disabilities may also contact this program. For more information call 753-4844.

Dining Sites
Noon meals are served at many sites. Senior citizens may enjoy a nutritious meal, fellowship, recreation and educational opportunities. Reservations one day in advance are required and a donation is requests; however, no one is denied a meal due to inability to contribute. Get a listing of sites and the current menus from the web or contact the Senior Services Office in your area.

Elder Abuse Prevention Program
This program offers assistance to seniors who are at risk for, or are victims of abuse or neglect. It provides eduction, training, and presentations to raise awareness of elder abuse and neglect. A trained caseworker will assess situations and assist in obtaining appropriate assistance. Works in conjunction with Protective Services and the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Department Senior Services Investigator. A one time yearly benefit for low income people which provides financial assistance with fuel and energy bills. Call the Senior Services office closest you for information or an application. Home Adaptation and Repair Assistance - This program is designed to assist low income seniors with energy/housing needs. This includes weatherization, adaptions such as ramps, grab bars, barrier removal, repair or replacement of items such as furnaces, septic systems, roofs, and steps.

Child & Family Services offers mediation outside of the court system. The agency handles many types of disputes such as: neighbor, landlord, family, etc. A mediation can take place in a neutral location or in the home of a housebound participant. Chautauqua County Crisis Hotline
is a 24-hour hotline crisis intervention service offering information and referrals.
1-800-724-0461.

House Calls is offered by Family Services of the Chautauqua Region. This program is a confidential mental health therapy to seniors who are home bound (home, nursing home, assisted living). National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) is for family members of the mentally ill. Call 763-7046 for more information.

Protective Services for Adults
Trained caseworkers with the Chautauqua County Department of Social Services will investigate reports of abuse and neglect of individuals over the age of 18 years, who have physical or mental impairment, and have no one willing or able to assist them. All referrals are kept strictly confidential. Call 661-8212 or 363-3596.
