The best way to avoid hazardous household materials is to use alternative products. Try these non-toxic or less toxic products as alternatives to hazardous household chemicals. A little more "elbow grease" may be needed, but the benefits are many: less exposure to toxic chemicals for you and your family members, easier waste disposal, convenience (most materials you probably already have on hand), and lower costs!

HOW DO I TRANSPORT THESE MATERIALS SAFELY?

  • Waste must be in a labeled container. Unlabeled materials or material incompatible with label or description furnished by household will be turned back!
  • Never mix chemicals together!
  • Never smoke or eat while handling hazardous materials.
  • Segregate solids from liquids
  • Place all materials in plastic-lined boxes surrounded with packing material. DO NOT WRAP
  • Waste anti-freeze and waste paint should also be in leakproof containers
  • Fluorescent bulbs must be bundled together
  • All materials should be placed in trunk of vehicle for transport to collection site
  • Do not leave vehicle once you get to the drop-off site unless instructed to do so
