A Person in Need of Supervision is a child less than 18 years of age who does not attend school in accord with the provisions of part one of article sixty-five of the education law or who is incorrigible, ungovernable or habitually disobedient and beyond the lawful control of parents or other lawful authority or who violates the provisions of section 221.05 (Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, Less than 25 grams) of the Penal Law. Probation Officer's work with the child and their family to provide intervention services with the hope of avoiding further Court Action. Services can be provided to these children and families both pre and post Family Court adjudications.
